Method, standards and what gets documented.

This page exists so a technical evaluator can check our work against something. It names the standards each line of work is delivered against, the criteria anomalies are classified under, and the documents issued at completion.

02Severity criteria

Both reference bases, published.

A ΔT threshold quoted without naming the basis it was measured on is not a criterion. Both tables are here so an evaluator can check a report against the one it should have used.

Source ANSI/NETA MTS-2023, Table 100.18, Section 9. A reading is only classifiable against the basis it was measured on. Where a comparable component under comparable loading exists, that is the reference — it cancels out ambient and load. Ambient is the fallback, not the default.

Standards worked to, not certifications held

The standards listed against each service are the ones that work is delivered against. They are not claims of certification. A standard is a method you follow; a certification is a document a body issues after auditing you against it. Presenting one as the other is the most common way a tender submission becomes non-compliant.

Where the company holds a certification, this page will name the issuing body and the certificate number so it can be verified independently. That section is empty today.

How a thermal inspection is carried out

A thermal reading taken badly is worse than no reading, because it produces a confident number that is wrong. These are the conditions we hold an inspection to.

Equipment is surveyed under load — an unloaded joint is a cold joint and tells you nothing
A radiometric instrument is used, with emissivity, reflected apparent temperature and distance recorded per reading, not left at factory defaults
Optics are matched to standoff distance so the target fills enough of the detector for the reading to be valid
Every anomaly is referenced against a comparable component under comparable loading wherever one exists, and against ambient only where one does not
Ambient conditions, load at time of survey, instrument and operator are recorded on the report

Documentation issued at completion

Everything below is issued as a file you own, in a format you can open without our help, and it is part of the job rather than an extra line on the invoice.

As-built drawings reflecting what was installed, not what was designed
Labelling schedule to ANSI/TIA-606-C, matching the drawings
Per-link certified test results with instrument and settings recorded
Baseline thermal survey of the installed assets
Equipment schedule with model numbers, serial numbers and warranty start dates
